English producer Busi Jacobsohn Wine Estate joins Yapp Brothers portfolio

Single-estate Eridge producer looks forward to wider availability in premium On Trade

Wines will make their Yapp debut at Dirty Dozen tasting on 21 September

September 2021

Busi Jacobsohn, the East Sussex sparkling wine producer, is pleased to announce they will be distributed by leading on trade specialist, Yapp Brothers. Busi Jacobsohn, whose portfolio currently comprises two vintage 2018 sparkling wines, a Cuvée Brut and Rosé Extra Brut, has enjoyed considerable critical success this year. Douglas Jacobsohn and Susanna Busi Jacobsohn, the married couple behind the brand, have been seeking a high-caliber distributor who can introduce the wines to top restaurants and other On Trade across the country.

Susanna and Douglas say

“We have been looking carefully at the restaurant sector, and for a wine supplier who shares our belief in quality and character above all else. We are very pleased to partner with Yapp whose listings in top restaurants across the country says a lot for the respect they are held in. We’re very happy to join their portfolio of family-owned and very quality-led grower producers,  and look forward to introducing our wines to their team and customers at the Dirty Dozen tasting next week.”

Tom Ashworth, CEO of Yapp Brothers, adds

“We were very impressed by the quality of the wines and the packaging which really makes them stand out, as well as the clarity of Douglas and Susanna’s vision for the estate. English Sparkling Wine is a growing category in both restaurant and retail sectors and we believe there will be significant demand for these wines from both on-trade and online clients. We’re very excited to present the wines to all our customers from 21st September.”

Busi Jacobsohn was founded just six years ago in 2015, when the family, originally from Sweden, planted their five-hectare vineyard in Eridge, East Sussex. The first vintage 2017 was essentially a ‘field blend’ of the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grown on the plot. 2018 allowed them more scope to direct the blend of the wines. A Blanc de Noirs will follow in 2022 and a Blanc de Blancs later still.  They are committed to producing only vintage wines from their single-estate vineyard.

The wines are

Busi Jacobsohn Cuvée Brut 2018, RRP £38 (60% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier)

Busi Jacobsohn Rosé Extra Brut 2018, RRP £39 (78% Pinot Noir, 22% Pinot Meunier)
