If you see an English vineyard in late May, turn away for just a moment, and look back again – it will be different. Our amazing vines are now really starting to reach for the skies. And it’s not just the vines – life and colour is bursting out everywhere…

Hello friends, and welcome back. We’re here with another update for you on the life and times at our Eridge vineyard, so make yourself comfortable, it’s fika time.

We must begin by telling you about our first Open Day of the year on Saturday 11th June at 14:00. Come and join us for a tour and tasting, and chat about vineyard life here in Eridge, the English wine reovlution, and together raise a glass to world class East Sussex sparkling wine!

It’s a perfect time to visit – the estate is beautiful, and with (sometimes tricky) early Spring behind us we are set up for the growing season, healthy fruit, and a good sized crop. Of course Mother Nature will have her say but right now everything is looking great, and we’re excited about this vintage! The vines are around two weeks ahead of last year, with Chardonnay in the lead – as always.

Something we get a lot is people telling us that they find our sparkling wines very food-friendly, and we’re always keen to try out new pairings. And last week we went full Swedish with a Smörgåstårta – a savoury sandwich cake.

We set three Food and Drink Instagrammers the ‘Smörgåstårta Challenge’ with each creating a different cake, and pairing it with one of our wines. It was such fun, with the ‘winner’ selecting a traditional filling of prawns, crab, smoked salmon, egg and mustard across two different layers, wrapped up in thin slices of cucumber. We also have some more wine competition medals to report for our 2018 Brut – this time from the hugely respected Intenational Wine Challenge, the Cool Climate Wine Awards, and also the Drinks Business Spring Tasting. Thanks to all the judges. We cannot wait to send them our Blanc de Noirs…
