Today we received these back from Sussex chocolatiers @nobleandstace. They created for us superb chocolate truffles using our 2019 sparkling rosé wine. We ‘quality checked’ them, and they are absolutely delicious! We now need to decide if we’re going to share 🤔✨

Following pruning, we are left with large piles of brown, woody stick-like cuttings, and we have to do something with them. We choose to mulch them back into the soil - and this is the eighth year that we have opted to do this. Mulching instead of burning them, for example, has environmental advantages. Mulch enriches soil, encouraging microbial activity and moisture retention, and contributes to healthier vine growth. This option also reduces carbon emissions, and air pollution, contributing to climate resilience. It also preserves biodiversity by maintaining habitat integrity and conserves valuable organic matter. Our huge thanks to pro mulchers from vineyard service providers @sjbarneslimited 😎🚜🙏

Where it all began - the beautiful, tranquil rolling green hills of East Sussex… In May we will be celebrating 10 years of our vineyard! We’ll be marking the occasion with some lovely nostalgic posts looking back to the beginning, the very early days of our vineyard journey. These photographs are the point at which we’d had the idea… but as you can see, it’s before we planted. The first picture marks a scene and a moment which gave us inspiration, the second? Here is the full review:

“A touch of peppery, tart hedgerow fruit appears first, then lemony brightness and just a hint of yeast appears. The palate is super-brisk and vividly bright, with a slender body that reverberates with freshness. The mousse is fine but bottle age will make a huge difference to this wine, it has the freshness to last and the concentration to evolve.”

And it’s still absolutely evolving two years later. But what struck us and prompted sharing this note was the Spring-like tone of this review.
